How To Care For Your Leather
Each Opal .R. Helm product is handmade with premium, full-grain leather. Due to the natural material's inherent characteristics, some variations and markings may appear in color or texture. Over time, the leather will soften and may darken from the oils in your skin, creating a beautiful and personal patina. Exposure to liquids, make-up, lotions, or perfumes can stain the surface. To maintain the health and quality of your product, we recommend cleaning and conditioning every 6-12 months. We use and recommend Bickmore leather cleaner and conditioner. Do not use saddle soap to clean your product as it is too aggressive and could damage your leather.
Cleaning Instructions (leather only, not suede):
Step 1: Dust off bag with a soft cloth.
Step 2: Apply small amount (the size of a dime) of Bick 1 Leather Cleaner to a damp cloth. Rub gently in a circular motion over entire product until you've covered all areas with cleaner. Leather will darken as it gets wet, but don't fret, this is normal. It will return to its natural color when it dries. Let the bag dry (approximately 10-15 minutes). Repeat if necessary on heavily soiled areas. Remember, your leather will patina over time from the oil in your hands, so some darker areas of the leather will remain. This is a sign of well-worn, high-quality leather.
Step 3: Apply Bick 4 Leather Conditioner (the size of a dime) to a soft cloth. Rub gently in a circular motion over entire product. Let dry 10-15 minutes.
Step 4: Gently buff with a soft cloth or soft, shoe brush.
